Eydie’s Office – Email Marketing and Social Media Support

Social Networking can be fun and profitable, however, there some rules to follow along the way.  Mostly, the rules are pretty simple and common sense, yet many people forget and make some mistakes while trying to promote their business online. Let’s take a look at some right now.

Naked Profile.

You’re missing the point entirely if you are leaving your profile bare!  By not completing your profile you are not utilizing these sites to their fullest potential. The first thing people notice when you don’t have profile is your lack of credibility. You must take the time to set up your profile. A profile allows readers to learn about who you are, what you are like and possible what makes you tick.  They may learn that you have things in common and people like doing business with similar personalities. No one wants to do business with someone they don’t know. People do business with those they know, like and trust.  Remember to add a professional photograph (or something pretty darn close) of yourself so visitors will see who they are dealing with. If you don’t have a picture people see you as the default, black and white silhouette photo.  Not only does this make you look unprofessional it also send out signals to the reader and they may see you as untrustworthy or maybe even a scammer.

Your “About Me” Page is not all about your business
Adding your business information here makes you look like you’re one dimensional – as if you’re not a well rounded individual.  Your “About You” page should be about you and who you really are. You should include your hobbies, some family info (without the private details), favorite pastimes, community involvement, etc.  It’s not the place to promote or advertise your business. People want to know you, not what you do.  Save the business promo for the business section of your profile.

Too much hype
We already know that your business is the next best thing since sliced bread, but when you have too much hyped-up claims about how your business had made you a millionaire in three days, readers can see right through it. If you’re that rich why do you need to use social networks at all?  You should be on a warm sunny beach somewhere enjoying your good fortune. Be honest and truthful, but don’t go overboard.

Sending ads in comments and friend emails.
Oh boy…this is a big no no. When you use someone’s comment box to post your advertising you’ve shot yourself in the foot. Comment boxes are just that… a place for you to comment on a blog or forum discussion. Instead, put a link or a banner on your profile just in case someone wants to know what you do, but the main thing you want to do is to present yourself as someone who is credible and respectful. If, on the other hand, you are specifically asked to add your advertising in the comment box by a fellow reader then go ahead and add something short but follow it up with an email directly to the person requesting the information.

Social networking is all about making connections, being helpful, and being REAL. People want to do business with people they can identify with and trust. These days, people want to strike up friendly relationships before signing on the dotted line.  If they want to know what your business is all about they will ASK YOU. Then you have the opportunity and the PERMISSION to tell them and they won’t feel like they’re being sold to.

What is holding you back from brining home the income you need?

Doubt, Fear, Anxiety?

You might think, yes…. you doubt your capabilities, thoughs and ideas. You fear the unknown and failure. You’re anxious about whether or not people will talk or if your ideas are good enough!

Well, then answer is not yes…. it’s NO…. Doubt, Fear and Anxiety are only the results of years of programing! You have all these pre-concieved ideas that you’re not really worthy of success. You really don’t know how to live with success. We become conditioned to think and behave in a certain way, to achieve certain levels of success!

As a child you were told, “money doesn’t grown on trees”, “you must work hard for your money”, “only the rich get richer”. These are myths which we have bought into during our childhood and beyond.

But NOW, you must re-claim your power! You must be able to change. You must ask yourself, “what can I do to augment my income”?, what can I do, right now, to change my thinking about success”?

Change brings on a unique opportunity to make a better life for yourself…and others! What can you do to change your thoughts, your position, your thinking? Do what it takes. Be commited! Be passionate! Change from the inside out….its the steps you take, not the skills or talents you have and what you know!

Stop buying into the stories of why you can’t do something! Write new stories about how you will do something!

You’re never too old to change…. why not start right now!

Be Productive ~ Not Just Busy!
Life can feel like a busy train station full of people scurrying off in all different directions. There are people going here, things happening over there, all kinds of busy stuff going on just about everywhere you look. But in the middle of all this busyness, what exactly is getting done?

On a daily basis there are millions of people who are busy all day long but rarely, if ever, accomplish anything of importance.  It isn’t that these people lack talent or fail to put in enough effort into the task; they simply lack clarity and an intentional blueprint.

Many people cannot see the difference between being busy and being productive. These individuals mistakenly believe that if they’re busy then they must be getting something done, but in most cases that’s simply not what has happened.

Getting it done is the name of the game. Getting things done takes focus, focusing in on whatever you wish to achieve, then creating that intentional blueprint to make it happen for you.
All the daily running around won’t accomplish much of anything if you’re not using your time productively. Unless you focus on the tasks at hand, you can get lost in the busy rush of your life. Instead of aimlessly going about your tasks and not getting much of anything accomplished, why not try to set your goals a different way?
Concentrate your time and talents on doing whatever it takes to get the job done and see what happens? Begin by writing down your goals and the steps you need to take to reach them. For example: If your goal is to complete your vision board by June 15th, then start by writing down what your future goals are, what supplies you’ll need to make the vision board, where you’ll be getting these supplies from and so on. Create a timeline and check off what you’ve accomplished as you go along.

By writing your goals down on paper and focusing on completing them, not only will you stop wasting your days, you will begin to reach your goals; one goal after another.
What’s more gratifying than finishing what you’ve begun? To take an idea or a dream and then make it come true through persistent, focused effort is truly one of the most satisfying feelings you’ll ever experience. No matter what it is that you wish to achieve in life, the only way to get it done is to, quite simply… do it.
You need to forget about being busy and focus your full attention on making your dreams come true. Focus your sights on accomplishing your grandest dreams. Then get to work to make those dreams come true.
Get focused, get going, have fun and get it done.

Doing The Whole Job!

Recently I attended an amazing event! And it truly was amazing! A room filled with about 200 amazing business women gathered together to “exchange ideas, and discover answers to the questions that impact our life, work, health, family and community”.

The event, Amazing Woman’s Day 2008, offered us the opportunities to collect “fresh insight, inspire creativity and ignite fresh possibilities”.

Speakers at this event included, Marsh Engle, Women in Broadcast Media and The Marsh Engle Show; Michele Bohbot, Designer and CEO of Bisou Bisou; Jeannie Fitzsimmons, Awakened Heart-Heart Wisdom Seminars; and Marie Diamond, transformational leader and feng shui master in the best seller and hit movie The Secret, just to name a few.

The energy in the room was amazing and the buzz word that day, was of course “amazing”. We were re-energized, re-motivated, and re-inspired by all the women who attended.

For me, this amazing event was a re-affirmation. Ten years ago I moved to California from New York with my daughters. I had been a “clock puncher” all my working career, but then life circumstances steered me towards going into business for myself.  Like many of the Amazing Woman’s Day 2008 speakers that day, I needed to make huge changes in my traditional thinking, attitude and my way of life.

Going from a “clock puncher” to a business woman was a tremendous stretch for me. Had I stayed in New York, nothing in my life would have changed. But now I was faced with some serious decisions.

Each decision I made lead me to where I am now. Looking back, I am convinced that I made the correct decisions along the way. Even the bad decisions moved me towards my destiny. As I listened to these women speak at the Amazing Woman’s Day 2008 Event I felt that my decsions, goals, and dreams had been validated.  I was also reminded that I can do ANYTHING I set my mind to do AND I can do it well.

We, men and women alike, should never let anyone sit on our dreams. Never let anyone tell you, “it won’t work”, “that’s impossible”, “no one’s ever done that”. The naysayers are out there ready to pounce on your dreams….These are people who don’t have passion inside of them… they don’t have the same motivation, inspiration and dedication to any passion to understand what it’s like to be “AMAZING”!

Be Amazing Every Day!
